Yup I agree.. I've got a large derasa under leds and has been doing great for the past 4 months (he loves'em ,sits about mid tank)

Edit: Got mine from Pure, about 6'' and tiger stripped.... the only thing my wife likes in the tank because it flinches when she sticks her hand over it. LOL Wives!

been looking fr a blue derasa for a bit, its really hard to find, almost as hard as the black and white maximas

Any pics of the blue derasa? I'd really like to check that out, I've only seen gold and brown in person.

I did manage to come across a b+w maxima, he's the only clam that survived my battle with pyramid snails.

How would I know if I have pyramid snails? Or how do you keep from getting them?

Pyramid snails can hitch hike in on clams an snails. A visual inspection of ALL surfaces of the clam's shell, using a microscope to see the babies and eggs, should be done prior adding it to the DT. Some people do a freshwater dip.

If you see the snails, they can usually be removed manually, but inspect very close to make sure there are no eggs. I used a scalpel and tooth brush to remove them.
