Clean up crew

I caught these 2 really large hermit crabs in the Gulf and reluctantly put them in my tank but after a month of being in there they are the best clean up crew I have ever had and the price was free

They can be but some hermits are not reef safe. Just keep an eye on them and move them t the sump or re-home if they become a problem after adding corals if thats your plan.

I have thought about doing this so many times. Please, please keep us updated if anything goes sideways. I was too worried that that exact species would start eating corals or something like that and I didn't want to have to "put them down" if it didn't work out. I have seen them in crab traps so they can get bigger than most of the one's we usually see in the aquarium trade.

When I start adding corals they are going back to the sea but they have been amazing for cycling the tank
