I am doing some major sump work today and as part of that thought I would go ahead and clean my 36W Turbo Twist UV Sterilizer. Has anyone done this on theirs and if so do you have any tips, tricks or cautions while doing it?

What about the Current 40W UV, I'll be doing it soon as well?

I cleaned a 36w twist yesterday.

I carfully removed the glass shield and just ran a damp sponge over it, cleaned the inside of the casing with a vinegar solution and a bottle brush dried it off with a paper towel and put it back together.

Outside I just wiped it with a damp cloth.

Easy peasy.

Thanks for the inputs! It was a real pain in the rear to get the connections off so I could move it off its dedicated pump to a line I plumbed a while ago just for the UV. Unfortunately, when I went to redo the teflon tape I ran out after just two turns. After an hour of searching I finally found an old roll and was able to get it connected. Since I needed to drain it I figured I'd go ahead and clean the sleave but after taking it apart I found that the sleave was just as clean now as it was when I first installed it. Doh!
