This weekend I will be picking up a purple tang and a pair of ocelarus clowns dirt cheap. The clowns have been spawning once a month for some time. Just curious if the change of tanks will upset the routine or not. I know there is probably no way to know for sure but just curious.

James cook is probably the man for this question. Send him a PM, or he may see the thread...

My guess would be that it would simply just delay it for a few more weeks until they are settled in; if they like the new home they should go right back to spawning once they claim a corner.

They should settle in... You may see them separated for a couple of minutes or hours at first, but, once they survey the land, they will find a spot to live and love together...

Best of luck, Man!!!

Either way is fine with me it just occurred to me and thought I would ask.

As long as there is no trauma involved, (lack of oxygen during the move) once they settle in they should resume the natural rhythms.

I'm thinking James...but ....

anyway, James is the "person" to pm on all things Clowns, Breeding, and bangaii cardinal.........and more....

try to move them when the female is pregnant, that way when you move the pair your guaranteed she will lay and not disrupt the cycle. Ive had shipped dozens of laying pairs to me this way, so i ensure that the spawning continues and is not disrupted. Ive also had pairs lay 4 days after ive had them shipped to me. other times it has been months. The best way ive found is to get them moved while the female is pregnant.

Rich, you don't want them to breed. I promise. They get territorial and nasty and move corals around. PITA. If my clowns start breeding, I'll probably sell them.

Just thinking it would be a cool thing to watch and it will provide some free food. LOL. But I will keep an eye out for bad behavior.

LOL. I going to tell your wife what you said. She will make sure you won't have to deal with that ever again. LOL

That would be breaking the man code and their for a loss in the man card! Do you dare!?
