Im sitying here thinking and its just a question. Im not thinking about putting a pait in a 1 gallon tank or anytjing. But what is the smallest tank you would put a pair of clowns in. Or what wiulf you say wiuld be the smallest tank they will be happy in?

Depending on the clown, Maroon needing the largest tank IMO. But a pair of Ocellaris would be quite fine in a 12 gallon cube IMO.

I've seen some pretty large clownfish. The largest being a tomato clown, 5-6" long

She would not be happy in a 10g!!

Juvies, sure, no problem.

I would not house a pair of the most docile clowns (A. ocellaris</em> or A. percula</em>) in anything smaller than a 25g tank. The more aggressive clowns would need even more space.

Depends... a pair of A. ocellaris are OK in a 12g or 14g, but good luck housing any other fish with them, they likely won't tolerate them. If that's all you plan to keep, that's fine (or larger, of course).

And yes, the bigger growing species definitely need more space, and are likely to be aggressive toward other fishes.
