how come not many people have them? I know they are very aggresive, but for people who have predaor tanks, usually dont have them. At least I dont think they do.

Would love to have a set up with a shark....but, what does mix with a shark?

And....in keeping with the OP, they are really cool, but I can't say that I've seen very many in aquariums or for sale either.

They will eat inverts like crabs and snails for lunch. So, i guess they decimate your clean up crew.

I've read that clown triggers are one of the coolest fish to have. They have a personality like a dog. Will stack rocks / shells up into a hill then knock it over and start again -- chase your finger on the glass, etc.

If you could only program their brains not to eat inverts... I want one, but know its a bad idea.

Im thinking of putting one in my to be new setup. I am not putting any inverts in there as I will have a puffer, eel and/or lion fish. I havent figured out what all I want.

I had them many years ago in fish only setups. Tough as nails, IME. Personality can vary by fish, from almost "good community fish" to "wants to taste everything in the tank."

Healthwise, I think the key is to start with a healthy specimen, one that is eating, out in the tank, and diplays come curiosity about their surroundings.

I've heard triggers and lio fish arn't a good mix. They may pick at the lion fish's fins and harras the lion fish. Some one correct me if I'm wrong but thats what I've heard.

Yes, someone please chime in on this. I havent heard this and I dont want to put the 2 together and have a dead fish or 2.

I would just add a Clown Trigger last and I would think that would avoid most aggression/dominance issues hopefully. Although I had a customer one time say it wasn't him beating up other fish that was the problem, but that his 6 inch clown trigger put a good size hole in his arm when it bit him while he was cleaning the tank.
UGH

GORGEOUS trigger though.

Is the only reason you can't mix because of the lion eating slow? I have heard the nip at the lion fish fins also not sure thought.

the trigger can take the whiskers etc off of a lion - and i think Marine reef had 3 clow triggers yesterday from 2" to about 6" in size

and i would guess by looking at the prices that alot of folks just don't want to gamble with the hit or miss toughness of the fish

they are gorgeous fish and I would love to have one myself however, I am holding back due to the above reason.
