Hey guys,

I have seen one of my clownfish glancing on the power filter. He seems to aim for his gills when he does it. All my water parameters are perfect, as I have checked them daily. Neither the other Clarkii or the Caudern are glancing. I have heard some occasional glancing is normal. Otherwise, there are no visible marks, the eating is normal, and there are no other signs of distress. I have read that glancing in Clowns, unless you see Ich, is not necessarily a disease. Your thoughts clown owners?

Hard to say why. My saddleback clown started doing this all of a sudden when he had never done it before. I didn't think much of it and four days later ich showed up on him. Clowns may do this for no reason, I dont know.

Clowns to that on occation, shouldn't be a issue as long as therry are otherwise healthy

It is one of the tell tale signs of Ich. Ich can live in the gills (where it is the worse plce for a fish to get it) and you do not have to see the "white head" for the fish to be bothered by it. I would watch the fish closely and look for any spots. Until you know what to look for, try to spot the spots under just actinic light. It seems to make them glow very well and be easy to notice!

doesn't sound good to me. i had a raccoon butterfly do the same thing and he took a turn for the worse a few days later. when is the last time that you added a new fish/coral?
