Here’s what I did to build my Co2 scrubber. I was having trouble to keep my PH up. It would stay around 7.8 to 8.0. no matter what I did in the 120g upgrade. I never had a problem with the 75g . Have not tried the Balance yet but I use the Buffer 8.3. I put it in the SW mix water and it would raise the PH but when added to the tank after doing the water check a day later it would never raise. And I would add and add the buffer. The PH never raised but the ALK did.
So after JeF4y posted his scrubber http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=72642">JeF4y's CO2 Scrubber - Increase your pH!</a>I decided to try it but as usual I always have to add a twist to something. So I decided to make a “coke” bottle style air reactor. After picturing what I want in me brain and then gathering some parts. I put it together as a dry fit and decided that I did not like what I saw. It was top heavy and had no foot and I still had to figure out what to do to keep the pellets from falling out.

Below is what I came up with. I used an inverted closet flange for the base and then just added a spacer ring to change the appearance of the flange. I used a 3” flush drain inserted in the bottom to hold the pellets but was too low and could not see the first inch. So I took a router and removed the lip so it would slide inside of the 3” blue/clear tube but I had already drilled it for the invert way so I had to modify it. I used part of the insert drain to hold down the screen but decided it was not needed and it LQQKs better. I added a second one just to make it easier. I put the plastic bolts in as I had originally planned but with the second drain I just made it so I could twist it on. This way it can be easily removed. The only thing glued in the very top ½” reducing bushing after I cut a ¾” off of it. I also added some bolts to the bottom to elevate it off the floor.

After it was hooked up it was LOUD really LOUD. I raised it up off the floor and it got better but needs to be about a foot off the floor for the best sound. I put 1 level cup in it to start with. To hook it up to my RO 150 I pulled the silicone tubing off of the intake. It’s metric and just a bit smaller than ½” so I took some electrical tape and did a couple of rounds to make it bigger and the used normal sized ½” tubing to the top of the scrubber
