I have a 70G Rubbermaid Stock Tank that is currently holding a little over 200 lbs of live rock and some of the rock has Kenya Tree and zoas. I have temporarily suspended 96W of PC over the end with the corals and currently have a MJ1200 and an OR2500 submerged for flow. I want to plumb the OR 2500 outside the tank and have a ball valve connected to the 1.25" bulkhead at the bottom of the tank. Is there any problem with hooking the input to the pump there? Is there any kind of issue with the pressure of gravity being too much for the pump?

How high from the basement is it going to the tank (I presume you plumbing from the basement to the 1st floor. Anyways, I dont' think the 2500 can push the water that high. It is rated only 8ft.

That will come in the future, for now I'm just running the flow for the 70G rubbermaid, out the bottom and back into the top. I was worried whether the pressure coming out the bottom would hurt the pump.

Thanks, I think the picture in the article answers my question. My question is probably acedemic but I've never plumbed anything like this before and it probably really fits under the "stupid question" category. I was worried only about the input side of the pump and was wondering if gravity could feed water to the input of the pump faster than it normally would suck it out on its own and therefore cause a problem. I talked to Sam (Aquabuys) a little bit ago and he said it wasn't a problem.
