Spikes Corals is holding a contest. Winners will have their membership fees paid for one year.

To qualify:

A. You have to have not already paid for membership and are not a current paying member.
B. you need to post in this thread why you want to become a member.

The decision is not based upon purchases or past purchases. I will let my wife and her brother decide winner.

The 2 individuals will be told of decision Friday afternoon, in time for the frag meeting and great free frags.

Edit: You need to have responded to thread by Thursday at Midnight.

I really want to be a member.... This forum has been very, very useful. And everyone has been more then helpful when I have posted questions and pics of the tank. And after this weekend three more tanks... I think its really awesome how well everyone gets along and how informative they can be.. Im going to attend the show this weekend but unfortunatly will not be able to take any live goodies home as my girlfriend and I will also be attending the supercross.... Kinda bummed but It will still be cool to put some names with a few faces. And see what the ARC is really about.. Who knows, this hobby could turn into much more for me one day and i would have nothing but great appreciation for the ARC... Even if I dont win this... (Fingers x crossed) I am still going to join as soon as is humanly possible. LoL Thank you...

I want to be a member for many reasons. 1) I owe $30 to the club for the wealth of information and many deals on coral, equipment, etc. 2) It's the right thing to do because of the reasons described in point #1 3) I've been reefing since October of last year and it has already become a passion of mine. I absolutely love keeping a reef. I can totally see myself taking on a role within the club as a contributor, rather than a user, via becoming active, in some way, with the BoD. The only way to contribute to the success of the club is ultimately through membership.

Thanks for the consideration!

I have been into Saltwater fish and Corals since I set up my first tank in 1988. 55 Gallon with an undergravel filter. I have lived in the south eastern part of GA for most of my life. It wasn't until I moved to where I live now currently Paulding County and learned of the ARC that I came to realize that I was not alone in this obsession. I picked a career field that thinks that all Saltwater enthusiasts play D&D and smoke pot in the mothers basement. It was refreshing to learn of a group of individuals from such diverse backgrounds that have found common ground and joy in this hobby. This group is also very willing to share and advise others in the hobby to achieve the kind of systems that they envision and enjoy. I would be proud to be associated with such a group. I have also met some quality people through the use of the ARC that I now consider some of my personal friends.

Well thats my spiel thanks for listening,
Davie

I started back in this hobby about a year and a half ago when my wife was pregnant with my daughter. I originally started real small and soon became addicted. I joined the site as guidance and soon gained much more. When my daughter was born, I used to sit next to the tank as I was feeding her. She got relaxation from the sounds and movement. As she has gotten older ( she is now 14 months) she now stares into the tank watching the fish and shrimp. I know now that she too is also addicted. She comes to members houses with me and is in complete awe when she see's the much larger tanks. Becoming a member is the next step as I would like for her to enjoy this hobby with me as she grows up. The members here are incredible with there kindness and knowledge. I have always been eager to share our experiences and knowledge as we grow with our tank. Thank you Glen and family as Spikes Corals has been a stand up part of this community. I am not going to the frag swap as we are going to see grandma and grandpa in Florida so free frags are not what we are going for. I see a membership as an investment to a community that helps keep this hobby enjoyable in many aspects.

This is my husband's account. He has had it for a while now. I have always loved all animals..but I was like.. you can't pet fish. meh...lol.SO I sat back and watched him blow tons of money and buy tanks and chemicals, test kits and rocks...ROCKS??! WHAT in the WORLD?!

I don't know what happened.. or WHEN...but somehow eventually I became attached to everything.Every fish. Every snail.lol..... I have been silently reading pages and pages of information here. Learning so much from all of you.

I am sorry to ramble, but.. I have been converted to an absolute addict..haha... You can all laugh when your wives complain..but if they only knew, they would totally understand. .but BE CAREFUL what you wish for.. she'll help you blow half your paycheck on blowfish and corals...

I look forward to actually speaking to more of you in the future. Nice to meet you all.

It would be nice to surprise my husband with a membership since he doesn't even know I'm doing this haha!

Some great responses, I wish I had more Money (as always) to sponsor more people.

I want to become a member to be part of a community so I can gain knowledge and open my options for livestock. Right now my nearest LFS is almost an hour away. I will be driving over from Alabama and plan to join anyway but a free membership would give me more to spend at the swap.
Thanks for being so generous and I've got my fingers crossed.

This is an awesome thing to do. I wish I had not skipped over this thread so many times. I have tried once to make my payment to become a full fledged member, but it was trying to debit my bank account again instead of taking the money from my Pay Pal account. I since have been extremely tight on cash. I am glad for the two lucky people because this is a wonderful place where people can learn, and exchange experiences. I personally like watching the build threads, and greeting new reefers. It reminds me of my first tank, and makes me excited for my next!

I would like to say thank you Glen and Kim for your generousity. My wife Holly and daughter Erin have enjoyed this hobby with me. Now we feel as though we are part of a much Larger family. Spikes Corals is the best.
