controller questions

anyone have a link to a good demonstration of the many perks you get from having a controller??

i don't truly understand what it does besides show you a real-time list of pH, and temperature.

heres what mine does for me

1. monitor ph, temp and orp constantly
2. turn the pump to my kalkwasser reactor on every four hours to saturate the water
3. control based on the ph of the tank weather or not to auto refill the top off with normal ro/di water or water from the kalkreactor
4. control my lights
5. turn on my fans if my tank temp rises to high
6. turn off my lights if the fans dont cool down my tank
7. turns on my chiller if the tank temp still remains high
8. controls the ph of my calcium reactor
9. controls my skimmer from overflowing the collection cup
10. notifies me if theres a water leak
11. controls my ozone reactor
12. controls my multiple dosers
13. it use to control my attic fan
14. lets me check in on my tank via the web while im on vacation
15. stops my return pump from running dry
16. controls my heater

thats just off the top of my head,,im sure im missing stuff

Which controller are you using?? With the exception of the attic fan that is everything I want my controller to do.

yeah...thats ridiculous haha. i dont have any of those things mentioned above really haha. i want an ozonizer after talking to someone today but i bet it's not worht the money to put on a solana. i might cash out on it just to do all of that with lighting and cooling and pH. idk if i'm going to go wit ha kalk or calcium reactor yet. i might just dose with caps.

To expand on Slayers list:

Email when any parameter is out of line (tank pH, CA reactor pH, temp, ORP, etc)
Email when skimmer collection cup is full
Sequentially control temperature
--1st Chiller
--2nd Sump Fan
--3rd Room exhaust fan
--4th Lights off
Seasonally adjust tank temperature to simulate seasonal changes in reef temp
Sequentially power halides east to west and reverse at sunset
Seasonally change the photo period to simulate changes in length of day
Run a moon light with variable intensity and moonrise and moonset based on the phases of the moon
Control variable speed pumps to create a tidal surge
Inhibit top off when kalk is stirring and for 30 minutes after stir to let kalk settle

I use an AquaController Apex.

I can do all of that with my RKE (or at least it is capable of it) since i dont use a reactor or kalk
