copepod hatchery ideas

Heya guys, I'm putting together a 10 gallon copepod.hatchery later this week. I'd like to get some ideas from people about good methods for moving pods to the main tank, and on if I need substrate or if I should just leave it barebottomed.

I'll have some smaller pieces of live rock, along with some short cuttings of pvc in the tank, and an air pump circulating the water
