I bought a jar of DT copepods to help stock up my tank, and poured them in at night with the pumps off, etc.

Do I also need to be pouring phytoplankton in my tank now? Or will they survive off eating bacteria in tank?

they'll figure something out:D

seriously, unless you having something else that requires phyto, I wouldn't

So they will just feed off the liverock and reproduce in chaeto?

unless you'll feed them live phyto, of the correct size and species, no need....

Alright, that sounds like some saved money for me.

But... not that I don't believe ya'll... but what else do they eat if I am not feeding them?

I put them in my fuge and feed them and they grow and get sucked up into the DT where my fish eat them. I would at the very least attempt to feed them some phyto.

Maybe I will pick up some dt's photoplankton. You think adding a teaspoon a couple times a week is sufficient?

Ah nevermind. After further research, most people say they eat left over food, and different types of algae. I think I will let them go the natural route until I get some coral that needs it.

I now have a ton, I drop one tiny drop of phyto in my refug. once a week seems to work great in reproducing.

I have a bunch and don't do anything specific for them. They seem to get along just fine without an additional food source.
