I got this coral beauty on sunday because he very pretty colors, and swam a lot and ate food instantly hitting the water(plus good price). I decided to get him, and put him in my biocube until my fish only tank has cycled. But ever since sunday, anytime the lights are on and he sees his reflection, he won't stop attacking it. Literally he goes on it for hours on end. Food, me putting my hand up to get him to back off, nothing stops him. I had another dwarf angel 2 years ago that did the same thing, but only for a few hours after he was added and adjusted to the tank. Is my fish now hate himself or what?:lol2: but seriously why is he so angry.

Wow, reading this a second time, I see that the pain killers that I am taking for my back right now are effecting my writing.

0_o you have a very mental fish... i wonder if he has a migrane....

gl with find and answer, i'm tagging along for this.

add lights (like a desk lamp) to the side of the biocube so he can't see his reflection

Have you thought about overwhelming him by taking 10 or 15 pics of coral beauties and taping them (facing inside) all around the tank? He just might either have a hard time picking one to fight with or deciding he was outnumbered.

I don't have much experience with fish fighting their own reflection, but I used to keep a 90G tank with some pretty aggressive wrasses and an aggressive blue tang and posting a couple of pictures around the tank when adding a new fish always stopped the fighting quickly.

I will try both these methods when I get home today, but hopefully he will realize that it is his reflection in the next few hours while I am away.

i had a sixline that would do that...one side of my tank was against a white wall and he could see his reflection perfectly in the glass...i actually hung a drape/tapestry kinda thing there (no im not gay...not that theres anything wrong with it) on that wall and he stopped...u could try something like that
