I have a 2 year old orange monti that is bleaching in the center. I noticed the bleaching yesterday when I squirted water at the coral with a turkey baster to remove some hair algae that had floated and landed on it. The tissue on the coral blew off and there was a bleached spot under the old tissue. I recently moved the coral to a new tank that is stable with good numbers. The main difference is that the coral was at the bottom of a tank with a 250W MH and is now at the Top of a tank with 6 T5s. Also there is a return pipe above it that may block some light.

Is this RTN or is it an affect of the new light and pipe blocking the light

Also the coral has been growing well so i don't think its the PAR

Thanks again
Jake

You should probably up the flow near your Monti so that debris doesn't accumulate on it.

If you have hair algae randomly floating around the tank, then you could have high nutrient levels from overfeeding the tank or not changing water, and that could have helped stress the coral enough that the irritation from the hair algae started the RTN.

i just did a iodine dip and found a ton of little white slugs this could be the problem

also my nutrients are low
