Coral ID and placement

Attached you will see a picture of a coral I purchase at the clubs auction about a year ago. Since the auction I simply placed the coral on the sand. The other day my wife said she wants the coral moved to the rocks.

I have no idea what this thing is. I think it may be a montipora but I'm not sure. Can you of you help with the identification of this and let me know if I should leave it on the sand or where I should move it to. The photos were taken with my phone so the quality is not as good as I would have liked.

Just not branching much. I have some of mine do that to. Looks like it could be raised a little in your system. Do not blast with light. Just keep it in good flow and low nutrient levels.
 
Thanks for the response.

Do you think I should keep it on the sand (just in a place that has more light) or place it on an elevated rock with more light?
