That's bad news but even humans prefer plastic. On a positive note, there are people around the world really trying to lower the use of plastic. Off the top off my head, there's a place in Guatemala where the indigenous people have banned the use of plastic and have reverted to their ancestral use of banana leaves to wrap meats when purchasing.

We can make a difference no matter how small. We of all people should know by now-Small changes matter. Salinity anyone?

Skip plastic bags whenever possible. Ask the butcher to wrap your meat in paper instead of the foam trays. You get the picture.

That's pretty disturbing. It seems like our natural reefs are doomed. Warming and acidifying oceans, crown of thorns starfish, and now microplastics.
