coralife venturi super skimmer not working right

it is very unconsistant. the bubbles come up at a good pace then out of nowwhere they will start overflowing. it is not new and usually works fine until now. anyone know why this is?

My SS did that occasionally for no apparent reason. Would also occasionally do the flipside, where it produced zero bubbles. The only 2 things I ever found that had any impact on how this skimmer worked were to 1) clean the venturi and 2) adjust the control knob. Sometimes neither of these had any impact, and you just have to let the thing go berzerk for a while and get back to business.
