I ordered two Aqualifters and was intending to use one of them as an ATO or just to keep on hand as a spare.

My question is, should I Tee off and use both of them on the CPR, or just go with one like a normal person. I'm just kinda nervous of using one and it, for whatever reason, failing. Are these things as solid as I've been reading?

It has been my experience that they will get gummed up and fail on you after a while. I've taken mine apart and cleaned them before and was quite surprised what I found inside of them. Unfortunately, that's just one of the risks of using a HOB overflow.

How long is "a while?" Weeks? Months?

I could fab a small pre-filter to eliminate that problem... good heads up.

I should say, I have not had the same experience with the aqualifter pump I use with my ATO, so it's definitely due to the crap coming through the overflow.

If you're talking about an overflow box, having the aqualifter reduces the incidence of failure. Keep everything clean and it mitigates the risk.

As for aqualifter with an ATO... they do make a prefilter for the aqualifter....
