I'm not sure what's going on with my crab (Sallyfoot), it's been acting strange today for about 6 hours or more. I''ve attached picture, hopefully.

class="gc-images" title="DSC_0205.jpg[/IMG] style="max-width:400px" /></a> It's jacked up on my rainbow yuma and won't get off and when I get it off it just gets back on in the same way. It usually zips around shoving sand in its mouth non stop or eating non stop on the rock. on the rock. All my water tests are fine. Can anyone help?

It's just sitting there, not eating or moving very much. :( I've tried hand feeding it fish flakes, little pellets, and some frozen food and it won't eat anything. Anyone have any idea what is wrong with it or what I can do?

That is certainly an interesting situation you have there. As far as good advice... None here. Hopefully this isn't some kind of death practice. Maybe someone with more knowledge of crab behavior can help enlighten you.

I was expecting him to not be alive this morning but he was. Last night I tried again to get him off the coral but he grabbed on even tighter and wouldn't budge. Every once in a while I see him grab some sand and put it in his mouth. His legs will shake every now and again. It seems as if its a nuerotoxin to me but I only know people, not fish. I got a frogspawn and not sure if they can sting but he has a shell and I wouldn't think that would affect him.

If he keeps hanging there on the coral not eating too much he surely will die. I'm trying to move him around the sand in different places so he can have food since he won't eat what I put in front of him and he LOVES the fish pellets and fish flakes and usually jumps for them.

I've seen a symbiotic relationship before, but this......

If anyone out there has any ideas or thoughts PLEASE let me know what to do, I would hate for this little guy to die, he was my first purchase and I am new to salt water.

how long have you had the crab. inverts are pretty sensitive to changes in the system? i would keep your hand out of the tank if at all possible and let him deal with whatever it is on his own for a while. stressing him out by pulling, moving him is just going to make matters worst imo

About 4 weeks. I use a glove always....hate getting my arm wet. I tried to move the coral to different spots just so he could get some food from other areas of the sand. He is now off the coral....and has now disappeared under some rock. I'm thinking he is molting maybe.....just a strange way of doing it but not sure.

This is too cool. The lil shroom nem has it's back. Following this to see how smart the crab is

Update: Now he's on my frogspawn.

when a snake molts his eyes fog over, i don't know about crabs, but i hope he's just molting, i'm along for the ride to see what happens

Thanks Jead85, had a super crappy day and you just made it better.

Crab is still on frogspawn btw, had to hand feed him some frozen food. He just stays backed up to the frogspawn all day.
