So, just a minute ago I walked into the room to see my cat staring at the aquarium(there was a big moth on the glass!). A second later, my cat tries to climb up the aquarium cabinet to get the moth!:mad2: It made me mad, because my dad and I made the cabinet and he left some scratches behind. I did not laugh but didn't scream! He did get in trouble! Just wanted to know if anyone had any similar stories? :)

LOL - My Jack Russel could care less about the tank, will chase a fly for hours but doesnt seem to care there is 6 ft of swimmy things moving all around....

haha! My tank is by the door, so it attracts moths all the time! I don't care if the cat looks, just don't attack my aquarium!!

My tank is an in-wall setup in my basement and their is a pool table in the center of the room and we've seen our cat sitting there watching the fish a few times.

When i let my Ferrets out to run around they always try to go after the fish. They like water so they try to jump in thinking its a pool.

Doesn't fall in to the mammal category as the rest of the stories.....but one of my mantis shrimp actually shot out of the tank to attack me during feeding tonight:eek: Ever tried to pick up a mantis barehanded flopping around....not good. Never thought I'd need a top on a mantis tank (been keeping them years now)

My African Grey lives across the room from my tank. Last time I had him on my hand I let him check out the fish. He wouldn't even look at them... I guess observing them from ten feet away is enough for him.

Right on Barry -didnt know you have one. If I ever got a bird it would be one of those.....how many words does it say now? Ever get you in trouble? lol

He probably only says a couple dozen words... he prefers "sound effects", at which he excels. He does speak in the voice of who he learned the phrase from, though. I've had him since I was single and young, so he says some stuff like me, some like my wife and some like my Mom. :)

thats awesome....then at least you know who said it..lol

One of our cats is allowed to sit on the 75g freshwater tank. She is old and only about 8lbs. The other one is no longer allowed, because he is 25lbs and well... you know. Nothing like a 25lbs mop of aquarium water sprinting through your house in terror after breaking your glass top....

At least she doesn't have to jump/scratch to hold on/knock the tank over. My tank seems to get moths inside (floating on the water) more than on the glass. My cat does like to paw the glass at the fish, but the fish are used to it now and don't even try to swim away. The cat adds to the entertainment.

Thats a good idea! Yeah, I have had moths inside the tank too! I found one in my filter sock tonight!

I think it knocked his lights in and messed up some pumps too. Needless to say, he didn't let the cat walk around on the aquarium top anymore either.

This made me LOL! I could picture my cat doing that! :lol2:

My tank is 75 gallons too! My thing is...I don't want him to scratch the stand or the glass! I think he figured out I was mad at him for doing that!

I would freak out! When I was acclimating my algae blenny, he jumped out of the container, and was flopping around the room! I had the hardest time catching him! :confused2:

My Bombay cat subliminally made me set up a tank to improve his mental health. :purr:

When bored (frequently during winter) he will sit in front of the tank to watch the fish, and occassionally swats at them. He never seems to tire of the chase, nor has he seemed to figure out that he can't catch them through glass!

The other cat (an orange tabby) is a little 'toopid, and does not get it or pay any attention to the tank. :confused2:

hahaha! My cat is a grey tabby, I never really saw any interest the he had in the tank until I got my Aquaticlife fixture which attracted moths, I guess because it was brighter. Once the moths came to the door, and someone would open the door 3 or 4 moths would fly in and the cat(his name is charlie!) would go crazy! So here I am laying back on the couch, just finishing my homework and I hear this loud screeching noise and look over and Charlie is holding on to the wood for dear life! :confused2:

Edit: This would be Charlie! He may look sweet, but he can turn into a devil!:firedevil: He's kind of weird too, he grunts instead of meowing!

Last night there was a moth in the store. As it flew alongside a tank with a large Springer's Dottyback (Yes, Bill - the one you brought in), the dottyback ran the glass in an attempt to attack the moth.

I laughed my fool head off!

I had a cat that loved to sit-on top of my old 55gal the freshwater tank and 'fish' (he never came close, and didn't have claws). In order to gain access to the fish he would scoop out all of my floating plants and throw them on the ground. Immagine my surpise he first morning I woke up to find all of my plants just lying around on the tile.

I used to keep my QT tank on the ground with a glass top on it. My cat used to jump on top of the QT and sit on the glass top and watch the big tank. One day, i was cleaning the filter in the QT, had the glass top off and i guess she decided to check out the big tank... She jumped in splashed everything, jumped out, and never went back into that room. Needless to say, she didnt have ick any more

I had a cat do that... he was so used to just jumping on top of the oscar tank, and I had the lid off.... forever burned into my brain is the image of him underwater, back arched, claws out, flailing, best cat *** expression ever on his face.

It took him several hours of washing under the bed to get all the embarrassment off.
