I'm sure ill get unanimous no's on this but has anybody ever tried using automotive type electric fans for canopy cooling. I know that full speed would be way too loud, but maybe on a lower speed would be tolerable.

Probably nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't seem feasible to me;)

;)

sure why not. But Im pretty sure it would be cheaper to just go to walmart and pick up a clip on fan or if your canopy is big enough one of those dual window fans.

I use a window fan in my canopy and one on my sump for cooling.

you can also go to
a> and order computer fans that will speed up and slow down based on temp. I used 4 of them on my 58g and they worked great.

The purpose of a fan is to move air. Doesn't matter what kind of fan you use, they do the same thing.

So use whatever you want and can tolerate.
