Crosshatch pair ordered!

What about bluethroat owners expirence? They are said to be the only other trigger comparable to the crosshatch.

I had a pair a while ago, and the male would eat chromis like candy. They can definitely be a risk to small fish and/or shrimp.

That's funny you said that... I just got done reading a forum where a guy said his only messed with chromis as well. I wonder if they have some kind of species turf war going on that we don't know about. Lol

Edit: Mysterybox has a mandarin and bluethroat in his TOTM pictures. He doesn't list the blue in his fish but I see a pictures of him.

Edit: Atlas however it is not my decision... I would try it as I want both and have always pushed the envelope. It is your decision wannaplay. I'm going to contact a few more people with personal expirence for my own further consideration. You let me know.

Any trigger in the genus xanthichtys will be comparable. Bear in mind, though, bluethroats and sargassums are typically collected MUCH smaller. Most crosshatches are 6+ inches, especially if paired.

Chromis and crosshatches wouldn't have a natural relationship. Chromis are reef fish while crosshatches aren't typically found or collected there.

Ok just talk to some people and getbback with me. Remember that I'm
Leaving on Sunday morning for cozumel. So we can do it before then or when I get back. If its when I get back we can do a little more research and asking.

Ask ozz, I want to say he has them both also

Thank you buddy! I've been looking for this post.

Triggers are home and in the tank! The arrived Wednesday, had them shipped to a LFS (not sure they want to be named) for acclimation. 6 hours out of the bag they were eating! Jmaneyapanda you were right they are a tad bigger than 4'', closer to 5 but perfect size nontheless! Lights are out atm, I'll post pictures tomorrow.

i had a bluejaw in my tank with a spotted mandarin and never had a problem...
