Custom stand/cabinet makers

I'm working with Allen right now and I haven't got the stand yet but his communication has been A+ and his reputation is the same

Allen does great work, I've never bought a stand from him , but have seen a few of his stands and they are top notch

Allen is building my stand as well. I agree that he is great about keeping in touch, as well as able to produce some very nice stands.

Heard lots of good stuff about Allen but I know Grouper can't be beat. Well maybe with a big stick but you better run fast. He is not a small guy. :)

Thanks Rich I think? I can be beat on price for sure. Most of the stands I see built here are fantastic stands of nice qaulity . I have noticed however that the ones I bid on and don't get are nowhere near the type/style of stand that I quoted. Very few times are apples compared to apples. I recall a statement made by someone here(don't recall who) that some of us must be putting gold flakes or something like that in our finishes to justify the prices. That is usually not a statement made by a discerning, educated consumer but to each his own. After 30+ years in the business I have a pretty good grasp as to what most cabinetry should sell for to turn a fair profit. Other less experienced soon follow suit or either get out of it.

i have a stand from allen and it is great. ive also seen some of daves work and it looks awesome you cant go wrong either way

Thanks Brijesh
Ive seen some of the stands that Allen's guy builds and they look great/ well done IMO. Dustin AKA Rededge also does some fantastic work. I know there was at least one other builder here but I can't remember his name that did fine work as well.
It just boils down to who the customer decides will accommodate there wishes/requirements the best within there criteria.

+1, I had my run building stands for folks on these forums, back when the enjoyment I received from the weekend woodworking outweighed any desire to actually make money doing it, and I loved it. But, once the novelty wore off and I started trying to cover my time/labor as part of the "bid" price, the buyers just went to another hobbyist who was still willing to work for free. Can't say I blame them, but I'm just sayin'.

Allen just made this for us with 3 doors and soft close hinges. It was a really good experience and I can't recommend him enough!

My floors in this corner aren't even close to level so I'm working on that, but the stand is perfect for what we were looking for.

About time for you to post another of your build threads isn't it???? :)

I would love to have the talent you and Dave have. While I am pretty proud of the stand I just built it couldn't hold a candle to the work you guys do. Allen, I leave you out only because I have not had the chance to see the detail of the old school craftsmanship that I have seen from these two "wood whisperers". LOL

Looks like you got the removable door hinges like mine too.

funny that very tank that sits on your stand is the tank I had mine built for, but decided to go with the 60 cube instead.

That's a very nice stand Josh... my wife hates anything even kind of traditional so we went with the simple clean lines. That looks very ornate though. Had to be a lot more expensive than my stand. :)
