My 28 gallon nano has been up and running a couple of months and Cyano has lingered and even grown some on the sandbed and a couple of rocks. I've tried to scoop it and remove it, but it keeps coming back. Any ideas?

28g jbj nano
150 watt MH sunpod
2 Koralia nanos
Aquatic life mini skimmer
Purigen bag
Carbon bag
40 lbs live rock
Black arag alive sand

2 clowns
1 Purple firefish

Nitrate - 2-8
Phos barely detectable
Temp 78-80
Ph 8.0

If you have algae issues, there are too many nutrients in the water. Could be too much waste, a heavy bio load, too much feeding. There could be lots of culprits. Use the search function on here and search "cyano". You'll find lots of helpful threads and will be able to see what's helped others previously!

I beat it recently on my 150 by reducing the food load and cutting the lights back by an hour. Also alil manual removal from time to time too...

Cyano isn't algae. And I've done tons of research to no avail. That's why I decided to pick the brains of ARC people.

True, but it has the same causes as algae. I didn't mean for you to hit google, but to search old threads on ARC. Picking these brains is a great idea, but I've seen this topic discussed at length over the years, so there are probably many threads that have much more information than you're likely to get by just asking. Many of your old timers that have the most experience, may not feel inclined to giving detailed explanations repeatedly.

I think I even had a thread a couple of years ago about lights out for a few days that helped get a hold of it while I addressed causes of the symptoms. Didn't mean to imply you hadn't done due diligence, was just a suggestion.
