Long story short....I had a huge tank that I inherited from a friend (125 gallon) that caused me nothing but problems the entire time I had it set up. Nitrates and filtration became such an untenable problem that I downgraded to a 75 gallon with the same filtration system.....Anyway, I have a dozen or so chunks of live rock that aren't so pretty or so live from that tank. There is SOME coralline algae growning on the pieces and a few sparse polyps and bristle worms here and there, but they just aren't very pretty. Is it worth saving them or should I just chunk them and start over with nice pieces? I've heard you can re-cure live rock, but the process doesn't seem worth it from a labor and time standpoint. Any thoughts?

Dry it in the sun, hose it down, stick it back in with some live rock. It will repopulate over time with beneficial bacteria and other fauna.

If it's ugly rock - pass it on. Somebody can use it as base rock.
