Trying to decide between a swc xtreme 120 or a super reef octopus xp 1000sss (about $80 more). I am open to suggestions but these skimmers take up very little room in the sump.

Edit: this will be on a 40 breeder with 20 long sump

I recently bought an SWC 160 cone (due to cramped space) and I have to say I'm impressed with it. I like it at least as much as the Octopus on my wife's tank. So as of now, I'm the lone SWC vote.

with all other things being equal... get the cheaper model (or the model that will cost you less in the long run - more efficient electrical usage)

I have that same skimmer...........So I second your vote:thumbs:

I have a SRO 1000SSS. Used it on a 65 with 30 sump. It worked great but its not big enough for my 125. I have a brand new pump for it. It sucked in a snail and coralvue was nice enough to replace it. Shoot me an offer.

nice jead good luck with it bud, you wont need the luck but hey its nice to hear every once in a while

I posted a xp1000sss BNIB the other day for $250. Still have it. Wish I had seen your post.
