This is a first with DB.
1 need to know how high the drain pipe should be.
2 The flood gate, do i need to use it. Reason, the plastic srews are striped.
I took it off.
I want my water level as low as i can. Its a frag tank.
Pics would help.

No you don't have to use the floodgate.

Drain pipe height depends. That's why I like the AGA kits, they are telescopic and adjustable, you can tweak it to keep noise down.

The gph of the return pump determines how fast the water falls over the overflow. The overflow is gravity fed, so it cannot drain any more quickly than it is fed.

my flood gate is also off .
I have my overflow duroso stand so that the water falls about1.5 inches. That way it cuts way down on the water sound.

Thanks Jenn and Brandon. This just don't look right.
Its sticks up 2.5 inches. I had to cut the return pipe down 2.5.
I don't think it was the right size kit.

Sorry it's dirty :/

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Ok so your water level will be at the top of the elbow pointing down. Not the bottom of it. Maybe you just need to shorten it

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

The way you have it now it looks like it may be too high

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Here. I cleaned it

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Thank you Brandon, Man , Mine is way high. It needs to be cut big time.Like 2".

Looks like your cap is sticking up above the overflow .5 or less. Mine was 2".5 above.:wow2:

It would depend on your pump power too I guess. If you had a weaker return pump it would be lower in the elbow.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Wow!!! This is new for me also. I have a corner overflow like Brandon. Please send a reference for such a setup. The pictures leave things unexplained for a newbie. Is the supplier Deep Blue? I know of Deep Blue Rimless Tanks cant find the overflow as designed in Brandon's pic.

Its up and running, Got it tied in to the 120 DT. All is left is hang the light. Make the frag rack, and throw some RWs. And get the frags out of the DT..
Almost forgot, Thanks Brandon for those pics. I pretty much duplicated yours.
