defective heater

Hi, I was using this stealth heater for water change and was shocked when I touched the water today. I am sure it's leaking electricity.

is it dangerous?

can I still use it to mix water? or the electricity would cause minerals/water quality to deteriorate?

should I just toss it?

I would send it back to Marineland for warranty replacement. Lifetime warranty!

Had a stealth heater cook my cichlid tank about 6 months ago. I had just cleaned the tank the night before around midnight, temp was sitting at 76F, woke up in the morning and the temp was in the 90's. Have several other stealth heaters and never had a problem with them. I'm still sticking with them. I don't think it really matters what brand you go with, every one has it issues and horror stories. Sent in an email about the warranty and had a new one delivered in a few days.
