So I have been wanting A dendro for a long time finally got one in the mail today it doesn't look quite as good as I hope but it is a nice piece about the size of a quarter. With that being said I was wondering if there was any advice anyone can give me on it I know it's non-photosynthetic and it has to be spot fed but other than that I'm pretty much clueless any tips or tricks that you guys can tell me about

a few bits of info.

Just because it's NPS does NOT mean it must go in the dark/shade. You can put it in the light, it will not hurt it at all.

Feed it whenever you can. Anywhere from every other day to once every 2 weeks. Generally, feeding after dark is better because fish tend to be asleep and may leave it alone. Shrimp seem to be awake 24x7 so if you have any you may want to give them something just to distract them.

Reducing or removing flow while feeding may help them get a hold of the food (mysis is great, but any meaty food will do).

And having a spot-feeder (long tube) will help tremendously.

That's what I thought too I tried to feed him yesterday when I got it but I will try again tonight after the lights go out

I hope you didn't pay alot, it is clear that he has been slowing starving for a while due to the algae growth on the exposed skeleton.... People never care for their dendros properly... I hope you can save him!

you almost have to train them to open up, I turn off my flow and put some phytoplankton in the tank. hopefully that will get him to open up a bit then try to feed him some mysis. good luck

Edit:

This is the dendro that I got from WRXCRAZY a few months back. It's an excellent focal point and is almost always open. I do feed it 2x a day.
