Anybody remember thread someone posted showing detail of a DIY screen over tank using netting. I cannot seem to locate. I am wanting to get rid of my egg crate over the tank and replace with screening. I am still trying to figure out what to do around my overflows. My return is higher than the top of the tank, plus there would be a 1 1/2" gap between screen and overeflow. I now have baskets made from eggcrate over my overflows.

I made this from bird netting and a DIY window screen kit from HD. I painted the frame with high temp black paint and it only took about 30 minutes to make. I might go back and add another layer to tighten up the holes since these are about the size of egg crate now. I'd need to see a picture of your overflow to offer any suggestions for that fix.

I think it was Derek that had a thread on building one. I built mine from a screen kit from Lowes and pond netting from PetSmart. You're welcome to come by and I can show you what I did. i also have a lot of the pond screen left if you want some of it.

That looks good. Lowes had screen kits in dark brown that actually look black so I didn't need to paint mine and the pond netting from PetSmart is 1/4" opening.

Here's the link for the DIY screen I did for my 210 tank:

And a Pic of the screen I made for my 100 gallon rimless:
