I just got a Devil's Hand Leather and need some help to determine if it's ok. When we put it in the tank it looked pretty good, a tan color. But after a couple of hours it started getting gray spots and has folded over completely. I read these species will "shed" every so often. I picked this because it is hardy and for beginners, which I am. Could it also be in shock being in a new environment?

Thanks

What are your tank parameters?

Did you acclimate the coral before you put it in the tank?

Do you know what the water parameters were in the tank you got it from?

It sounds like shock - maybe just dramatically different water parameters. But the leathers are tough corals, so be patient. They are also "drama queens" of the corals........when they're mad, they look awful.

Probably fine....

As long as the tissue is firm, it's doing good. Give it 24hrs before you panic

Yep, it looks fine this morning. Great, now I have one more drama queen in the house to deal with!
