DIY glow in the dark Rock

So my daughter and I made some rock out of crushed oyster shell, white portland cement and some rock salt. We made a few awesome shelf pieces and some random ones also. I have a friend that is obsessed with superman so we made him a superman rock. After making the superman rock I thought it would be cool of it glowed in the dark. So I got some glow in the dark paint from walmart and painted one side of the rock and then coated it three times with 1319 ultra. When using the portland cement it has a high Ph value around 11 so you will need to leach it out by either water changes or put it in a fast moving creek or stream. But if you coat the rock with the 1319 it can go it to the aquarium in 48 hours with no issues plus coraline will grow on it. I was thinking about making some more maybe in some college football logos.... :shades:

Cool project!

I like that you got the kids involved, something that the both of you will remember. I've been toying with the idea if using some man made rock to hide some fixtures.

That would be so neat with zoas or something covering it!! I may need to figure out how to make a UK one and cover it in blue zoas!!

I bet it will look slick with the glow once coralline takes over. It could make for a cool effect in the tank.
