DIY sump help

I have a 55g long tank, and as most of you know there is limited space in the stand.

what i have been thinking about doing for some time now is to take 2 10g (20x10x13)
and plumbing them together to make one unit.

the only question i have about doing it this way is the size of the bulkheads and
should i tap 2 holes or just one.

has anyone done a setup like this before?

what size return? overflow? i would do 2 holes or even 3 if they would fit.

Its drilled and i think its 1.5"? or 2" im not 100% sure i got the tank from a friend.

I need some layout ideas all i have in my current sump is a AquaC insump skimmer and the return pump
