DIY Vortech Battery Backup

After getting a MP40W I supper excited at the idea of having a long-lasting automatic battery backup. I read on RC that making your own is super simple since the relay is built into the Vortech controller. I already found a float charger that will work. What do you guys recommend for a battery? Where do you recommend buying it?? Seems like I'm in a retail desert down here south of the metro. I've been having trouble even finding a SLA battery.

I wonder if the local stores carry these on hand. I'll have to give a call tommorrow. I did some searching and I think the offical Vortech backup is 18 aH too. If a bigger battery isn't much more money, might be worth looking for something with larger cap.
