Has anyone on here ever attempted to make a ply/wood + fiberglass coated tank in person?

I've seen a lot of DIY youtube videos. Some seem well done.

I'm wondering what the real longevity is for a tank crafted that way and true costs.

Yes, one has been attempted. I can't remember the member's name. I know he did a build thread on it. It's been at least a year ago. If I recall correctly....somewhere in the 900g range.

Here ya go.

Unfortunately, there's no updates to longevity and when I glanced over that thread earlier, there was no indication the tank was ever actually filled.

Very cool info in the thread itself though. Nice to have those tools at your disposal!

There are a bunch of them on RC. But unless your going over 400 gallons it will end up being about the same cost as a glass tank, and at over 400g I would be way to worried about a failure or leak.

I was going to do plywood and epoxy for my 200g mixing tanks, but plastic holding tanks ended up being cheaper.
