I recently added 3 cardinals to my system (a week ago) and now one of them is kind of lying down in my GSP. He got up and swam around like nothing was wrong for an hour and now he's laying back down there. I've never kept one before, but is this at all possibly a normal behavior? If not, any ideas? I've tested for ammonia and it's zero. Haven't tested for anything else just yet...

Laying on one side. Now's he's floating on his side in the back of the tank. Not looking too promising at the moment.

That is amazing.. I havent seen cards do anything but hover like those glass fish with the bubbles to hold them in place (fake fish)

My PJ cardinals are nocturnal. They never sleep on their sides though. Usually go behind the rocks and hover..

He's disappeared now. As has one of my firefish...

I can try to find him, but it will be tough if he's stuck behind the rock work. If he's dead, just keep an eye on ammonia for a few days?

If that's the case, the bristle worms will take care of him in no time.

Hope he shows up... right side up...

What size is your tank? Live Rock? How long has it been established? (Bet you have more than one!)

It's around a 120 and has been running for 2 years (moved a couple times). I have a good amount of rock in there, but I have never seen (or felt) one before and I have moved that rock A LOT! I know I have at least one because he was on a frag I got from Keen Reef. I knew he was there and wanted to get a few into my system.
