Hey guys. I was wondering. I have a 60g cube with a mag 7 return pump and 2 MP10W es. I also have a k4 evo on the back wall of my tank. My question is do I really need the k4? Can I do with just the 2 MP10 and the return? My tank is mainly SPS.

Thanks in advance

I'd seriously doubt it. If it isn't the big one you definently don't. With the mp10s able to push almost 1800gph or whatever each, I doubt the Koralia would do much other than ugly up the tank....

Also depends on the rock work though. The more rock the less effective the mp10s will be.

That's how my rock work looks like and how I have the power heads set up. Hope that helps some.

I dont think you'll need it...

try it out.. take it out... offset the MP10's so that one is closer to the back, and the other is closer to the front...

see what that does to your flow..

Great looking tank! I agree, 2 mp10's are plenty put one on the back and one on the side and you will be good to go

Thanks for the compliment bro. I want to put one in the back but with the way I built the tank. It has a built in sump in the back of it so putting another MP10 on the back wall is t possible. That's why I have the k4 in there. I have it hook up to my RK2 on wave maker mode.

Ron. When you suggested that I offset the MP10's, is there a reason for it? If the purpose is to create a circular movement then I think I may have already done that. The MP10's are doing a great job at making waves in the tank right now so if that's where you were trying to get to. If not then please explain. I'm not really sure how much more I can offset them since it will get too close to the rock work if i move it any farther back.

from what I read on mine.. they just work better when they blow into open water (unobstructed by reef structures)

it looked like your setup was pretty much in the middle of the tank.. so putting one on the front side of the structure and one on the back side of the structure would better fulfill the "positioning intent"

not that it wont work how you have it.. it just may work better another way.. (of course, maybe not.. )

move them around a bit and see. :)

Ron. I don't think I can move it to the back because my rock work is all resting on the back of my tank and it moves down towards the middle of the tank. If I move one of my MP10 to the back of the tank then it will be blowing straight into the rocks. That's not what we want right? As I have them right now. Their both blowing I to open water. I also have them offset one on top of another. There's not much of an offset but there's about a 1-2" difference.

gotcha... yeah.. you want them blowing into open water... (according to "the rules")

Dude I knew that............ I don't know what I was thinking. I still think that 2 MP10's will be plenty. Try changing how they are positioned and throw some flake food in there and see how the flow is. Personally I would have them both running NOT slaved. I think that way it would be more erratic.

Just a thought
