So I was thinking... What would be a easy way to dose additives into a system?

Remember 10,000 flushes? The blue hockey puck you would stick in your toilet and it would keep it clean?

What if someone invented a way to dose additives like calcium or mag the same way? Dumb idea, or the next $1,000,000? :lol2:

i was at petsmart they had a food cube that was like this you would need to find a inert material that dissolves at such a rate that it would last a week/month it could be done

Yes dumb. Even if placed in a sump or overflow you would have to have the same amount of and same kind of livestock recommended for it to be of use.
It could be possible if we ever learn how much mineral each coral, clam, invert and fish used. (and macro, coraline, etc)

It's already been done.

Call them up and see if they've made a MIL on it...

it should be easy to do this for anything that you dose...

you're basically automating the process, that's all...

I wonder how much you would really need. According to the dosing instructions for the 2.2 lbs block, I would need two blocks --- or --- $44 worth. Would this last a week? A month? Two months?

Has anyone here tried this dosing method? I'll be going back to school next week, it would be nice to have at least one aspect of my life to run on auto-pilot for a while!

I had some customers who used to use it. I don't know how "good" it was - if it's in too much flow it will dissolve too quickly.

Good idea in theory but probably not so good in practice.

I read the testimonials portion on the site.....one user commented that exact same thing.....but found the solution was burying it under her sand.

But I was thinking the same thing, with as much waterflow that a saltwater set up requires.....it would disolve really quickly.

drs foster & smith do not post negative reviews...

look around at other sites for reviews first.

lol.....the money we would save on running high end lighting! No actinics needed, everything glows blue naturally!

I can picture looking into the DT and seeing the Mr. Clean guy looking back at me smiling.
