ok.

i want to automate my alk dosing.

what is the best on the market?

what do most ppl use?

what is the "most failsafe" unit available?

I realize all the questions may have different answers :)

Thanks,

B. Snow

I have drew's dosing pumps from BRS. They are controled by my Apex.

can i do the same thing with the RKL?

have you had any issues with them? this is one part of equipment that could cause MAJOR issues if it gets stuck or something.

Also, what pump do you use? or is the pump included?

A RKL can work well if you have available channels. Be aware of the issue with channels 3 and 4 with a low power factor pump (like the doser). I would strongly recommend that you monitor pH (with an SL1 or SL2) as a backup.

You might want to look into a Kalk stirrer/reactor in the future to take care of this. I used to use a aquamedic dual pump doser unit and it worked amazing. Weather it is controllable through your RKL idk as I had the doser before I had the RKL but I'm sure you could control it with the RKL.

I use the BRS dosers thru my RKE and it works great. if you dont run a controller than I would look at a bubble magus

I love the bubble magus doser. Been using it for some time now. Works reliably and is easy to use.

Are you keeping up with your Mag levels?

there is a guy on ebay selling modded used peristaltic pumps. I just got one 90 shipped. Hoping it works....

I use two of the Bulk Reef Supply 2 part dosers.

They are $100 a piece, and then you need some sort of timer/controller to turn them on/off. I use mine hooked up to a Aquacontroller Jr.

They are quiet and reliable. I've not had or read about anyone else having siphoning problems with them, so they should be pretty failsafe.

If you want a great failsafe unit that has a bulletproof rep and built in controller, Litermeter 3 will do the job, but is more expensive.
