Dosing sysrems

If you have an APEX, the closest, IMO, is Neptune Systems DOS. Stay away from Ecotech Versa. I often still use brs pumps but they need a controller as well. They all have issues.

I wish there were a doser for dummies but all of them require calibration, programming and occasional monitoring. I use and have found the Jebao dosers to be a good option. Once you get their "system" down they're easy to calibrate, program and adjust. Plus, there are tons of Youtube videos on them. Side note - the directions that came with the doser I currently use on my frag system were wrong. I turned to Youtube, figured out what the difference was and it worked perfectly. Now that I think about it, I'm shaking my head in disbelief because the instructions were so clear on a specific point but were also 100% wrong.

I remember walking through Jabao instructions with Justin; as my instructions were correct.

Regardless, they are cheap, fairly user friendly, and seem to last a long time. Mine and my friends have all lasted over 8 years so far. The only complaint with this brand is that everyday reefers can’t easily connect it to an Apex/controller. But that’s a minor complaint IMO.

As for Dosing for Dummies. My beginning chapters would be:
  • When do you need to dose? (If you’re new to the hobby, you probably won’t need to for at least the first year)
  • How to determine how much to dose?
  • Reef tank chemistry (calc, alk, and Mag relationships with each other, what are safe ranges for each, and which ones are more important than others)
