So my tank had bubble algea pretty bad and while moving to the new tank I took the rock out. It's been sitting on the back porch now stinking up the yard for about a week. How long should I leave it out there.

Any thoughts on whats the best thing to do? I've heard of some people bleaching the rock but I'm not sure thats a good way to get rid of the bubble stuff. I was planning on just pressure washing it or something and brute trach can cycle it some before putting it in the new tank.

That's what we do with pest-fillled rock. Let the sun bleach it dry (hasn't been much sun in the last week!), power wash the debris off, let it dry again, then put it in a vat with some pest-free live rock and some Stability and let it run for a while.

I bleached mine and ended up with some funny results and had to do a huge water change to get it back in balance as well as let it cycle alittle longer.

I would bleach it, rinse it well, pour and soak H2O2 on it for as long as you can. Rinse again.

I didn't have a problem when I bleached mine. Next time I'll use H2O to as well.I only buy dry rock these days. I just toss in a little of pure ammonia Ace hardware brand to start the cycle.. Not sure why every one said to use Ace brand but it worked great for me.
