Hey guys. I bought a single head frag of duncan yesterday. Right now I have just stuck the stalk in the sand. Do I "NEED" to glue this guy to a rock, or will it somehow reach out and attach itself? Right now (only one night) it seems happy enough in the sand, but I don't know how it will grow.

I started with a single head 18 months ago. It is on a frag plug sitting on the sand. Haven't counted recently... But its grown to over 20 heads.

Wow. That's a head per month. Is it attached to anything or can you reach in and pull the whole thing up and out of the water? If not attached... does it tip over.

I haven't tried to move it or pick it up... It doesn't fall over... And is about the size of half a softball when inflated.

what kind of light does this coral need? i would like to get one if someone wants to frag it for me

I think the lighting requirements are minimal (for coral). I initially placed mine in the sand and several days later moved it up onto a rock. The part that was buried in the sand had already started to branch.

I don't think it is as happy in its new location. The branch has not changed (it is no longer buried in the sand) and it's not open as much as it was before. It gets much less water flow, and I think that is the issue.
