dying live rock

I have had my tank up for several years and lately I have noticed my live rock is turning black. Is there anything I can do to replace it, I don't want my tank to crash. I love the fish but I am getting real tired of things dying

Black isnt live rock dying. Rather it’s likely some type of growth, which could be good or bad. Can you tell us if it is crustose like coralline, slimy, squishy like a sponge, filamentous like hair algae, etc...?
