I have had my Seachem kit for over 3 years and have plenty of tests left assuming the reagents are still good, but hoping to replace it with something that was less involved. Any ideas?

Thank you for reading!

easy and accurate dont really mix. But I use the salifert kit and its close enough.

my guess would be salifert, but I like Elos....a little more complicated, but seems like great results.......

I have never used Seachem but I am with Ralph at least on Mag. Red Sea is pretty good and easy with Cal and Alk. There Mag is not even close to accurate.

Ok...I will try Elos...I am switching over to them as I need to replace my kits. Nothing wrong with the Seachem line; I just wanted to try something different. Thank you all very much God bless!

Tony,
I would have recommended the Elos test as well. They have expiration dates on them, so make sure you have some life on the test that you buy. For example, don't buy a kit that has an expiration of 6/12. Make sure you have a minimum of 1+ year before it expires.

I have used both Seachem and Salifert and compared the results of both to each other and they were both within a few percent of each other whenever I compared them. It doesn't get any easier than the Salifert Mg test (the Seachem test is very involved).

I use and like the Red Sea test kits overall. The Mg test is pretty easy but can have an inaccurate result if you don't catch the first color change from purple to blue. I used to watch the Red Sea guy on YouTube do it the first few times but now it's second nature. The true end point has been accurate for me as confirmed with a salifert kit that I have.
