There's also 1/4" mesh, depending on your fish. The 1/2" may not be small enough for some jumpers. I got mine locally from Marine Designs (one of our sponsors). You can also order it online from BRS. And I believe Acroholic has some.

I bought a couple feet of 1/4" mesh from another member, bought some plastic corners and screen frame from HD and made these for my 90.

I use mesh. Bought it from Acroholic and unless he decided to mesh his entire neighborhood I'm sure he has more for sale.

I used egg crate for a while but (1) it diffuses light, and (2) I had a goby jump through it and go cripsy. Been mesh ever since.

I am doing a 20 gallon build and it has a HOB Fuge so I want to secure it so I don't have any carpet Jumpers and also have a stable place for my lights.

You can bend the aluminum frames but do it slowly.....you can also find plastic ones and heat those.

Mesh over egg crate.

The egg crate will focus the light output more downward and will not allow the light to go sideways.

The mesh from Acroholic also allows more light to penetrate into the tank. It will be better for your corals than screen from HD, lowes, Ace or the like. It is also about the same price and you will just need the screen frame and corner pieces from the hardware store. Go to the DIY section of the forum here, there is a pretty nice write up. My .02

Can you post a link to that post I tried to search. How old is that post?

I have had wrasses (more than one) jump through eggcrate. Their bodies can barely fit though the opening but somehow they do. Mesh!

my 36g corner was a PITA. i tried heating the corner screen pieces, which i got to work, but could not for the life of me get the bend for the bow front. i ended up doing this...
