Emerald Crab vs Malanarus

Thinking of grabbing a few Mithrax Crabs. Yall think my malanarus will kill them? I know he will eat little hermits.

I have several emeralds in my tank of all sizes and my melanurus ignores them completely.

I think it would be fine if it’s large enough. My old melanarus would got after most inverts including large peppermint shrimp

ive got some emeraldss in my sump. I have 5 i noticed about 2 bubble algae in my tank. Do you guys think emerald crabs are safe in a reef tank

Depends. The male emeralds are more likely to nip at corals than females. it's a pretty easy ID, just flip them over and get a look at their bellies.


These are blue crabs but it's the same with emeralds. Females have a large pad on their bellies for holding eggs while they develop, males have a think line down the middle.
