Thought i would share my bb algae story.I had 2 small patches of bb algae.Put to small emerald crabs in.I haven't seen either crabs or bb algae.There gone.gone. I'm sure they are just hiding.What i am trying to to say is, they did there job. :up:
 
I hope thats all they eat. Dont want to be missing any fish or coral.I have heard stories.

Once the food supply is gone they will find a new food supply... If you have zoas, pull the emeralds.. I agree that they are great cleaners and are diligent workers, but they have a wide range of tastes...

I had 8 of them in a 120 and eventually I busted them all eating zoas. Also caught them scraping their claws on my sps.

Most likely as emerald crabs are more active at night. I get the small ones also as they are more likely to eat BA and less likely to eat other CUC members. I have bought dozens of them over the years and only had a single issue with one eating a bunch of hermits and snails.
 
Well,So far so good,I have very few soft coral.If they just leave my sps and fish alone.Im ok with that.
 
I put two Emeralds in my tank to eat some bubble algae. They ate a bit of it. But most of the time I found them eating my zoas, acans and anything else they could get their claws on. I had to remove them. I gave them to my girlfriend to put in her tank and eat her corals. :)
