Well i get home tonight to see water all over my brand new hardwood floors and i come to realize that my the glue holding my sump together has sprung a leak. Another member on the board built this for me so resolve this with him but i am yet to get in contact with him. So please if someone would like to guide on me on the best way to save my display tank until this can be fixed that would be great.

So far:72 bow...

Ill try to do a water change here in the next couple days if this doesnt get resolved.
I have kept the k 4's on and moved the heater up to the tank display as the tank temp dropped down to 71 degrees.

Is there anything else that needs to be done in your opinion?
How long do i have?

Ill try to do a water change here in the next couple days if this doesn't get resolved

Thanks for all the help...

I have 2x 100 gallon rubbermaid available and about 100 gallons of fresh saltwater available.

PM me if you need them.

I havent done anything yet besides what i noted, i do have a wet dry at the house if anyone thinks thats worth a shot and thanks robb i might take you up on that.... everything appears fine, corals are open and fish appear ok, temp is kind of low but not sure else what to do, its at 73

I would get a 20 gal long or rubbermaid tub for a temp sump. Pump current sump water into buckets and swap sumps.

All you need is flow in the dt & a heater in there. It can live without skimming for a bit.

Sucks about the hardwoods. That's something a lot of people don't take into consideration when buying a tank or sump. The few dollars you save is at the risk of the things that cost much much more..your house!

Has the water penetrated the flooring? That's going to be the most important thing to tackle. If not, the flooring will start to warp & will look nasty.

No i think i got home in time and the slow was leak but it was still incredibly aggrevating so i just broke out the shop vac and that was it.s

Currently, i got one pump in the sump trying to be decent and save the damsel down there and the dt tank's got the heaters and k4's now should i be feeding today or what...?

I think this can be repaired with some apoxy of some sort....So if i cant get in touch with the guy who built this, could anyone spare a few minutes thursday friday or this weekend to help me out with this, as this is my first sump or larger set up and id like to do this the right way versus a quick fix....I am located in buckhead off peachtree. Thanks for all the help

In all honesty, I would not risk the same thing again. If one place leaks, the others might so I would just pony up the cash for a new sump that you know will not leak. Its going to cost you a lot more in the long run to replace floors than a few hundred for a good sump from MRC or even less if you make one with acrylic baffles in a glass tank.

+1 you got lucky catching it in time. It's not worth the risk of it happening again. Use a rubbermaid until you get the funds to replace the sump. I've got egg crate, tubs, plumbing parts and water and everything you need to get it rolling as a temp. Just let me know.

Like Charlie said, do it the right way then.
