is there a safe way to eradicate hair algae from a plug with some zoas on it? a dip of some sort that wont harm the zoas but will melt the algae away? its only the one frag andbits driving me nuts!

3% peroxide and tank water 50:50 for about 3 minutes

shake the plug to make sure the polyps close before dipping

Yeah you can use the hydrogen peroxide, it won't harm the zoas. 1 part tank water to 1 part H2O2 for 3-5 minutes

I'm going to have to side with Dave though. Now that I have an army of snails at my disposal, I would just put it in a small holding container with 10 snails lol, or just put it in the tank. I'm actually kind of worried about them running out of food way more than I am about having algae on some frag plugs.

If its just one plug, it may have not been cured properly

I take a syringe filled with h2o2 and apply it all over the hair algae. Let it sit for a minute and then rinse. It works for all types of algae and will completely irradiate it. It's ok to get some on the base of the zoas, but hold try to keep it away from the polyps.

yes, quite easily......I spray all my frags plugs in and out with H2o2....for 10 minutes....

take a syringe, get the plug...try not to hit the frag, but most recover....

Cool!! Thanks guys for all the answers!!!I guess I know what I'll be doing tonight after work!
